^99mTc-Pertechnetate Scintigraphy as an Aid in the Diagnosis of Breast Masses

^99mTc-pertechnetate images of the breast were obtained in 6 patients, and the localization of the radionuclide in breast masses was correlated with the clinical examination, mammography, and pathological diagnosis of malignancy (when available). Digital image enhancement was useful in demonstrating the discrete area of uptake. This method may be of value as a supplemental approach in the diagnosis of breast disease.
