Demonstration of Myositis Ossificans by 99mTc Pyrophosphate Bone Scanning

Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1148/111.3.663

The authors present a case of myositis ossificans in the right thigh showing an excessive accumulation of 99mTc pyrophosphate prior to observable roentgenographic changes. Bone scanning with 99mTc pyrophosphate is very useful for the detection of soft-tissue lesions which produce extraskeletal ossification.
