Demonstration of Myositis Ossificans by ^99mTc Pyrophosphate Bone Scanning

The authors present a case of myositis ossificans in the right thigh showing an excessive accumulation of ^99mTc pyrophosphate prior to observable roentgenographic changes. Bone scanning with ^99mTc pyrophosphate is very useful for the detection of soft-tissue lesions which produce extraskeletal ossification.
