Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease  Drawing illustrates the renal and hepatic involvement of autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ARPKD). Although massively enlarged, the kidneys retain their reniform shape; the inset shows the characteristic collecting duct ectasia. The cutaway view of the liver reveals dilated intrahepatic biliary ducts and areas of periportal fibrosis, also characteristic for ARPKD.
